Parents & Families Weekend




Parents and Families Weekend Registration

Please click here to register for Parents and Families Weekend. On-line registration will close on September 30. If you miss the on-line registration window, walk-in registration will be accepted during check-in at the Parents Weekend at the Parents and Families Weekend Welcome Tables at the HUB-Robesone Center, First Floor Lobby (see welcome table hours below).

Families who register before September 30 will receive a Parents & Families Weekend welcome packet upon check-in. One packet per family will be provided.

Check In | HUB-Robeson Center, First Floor Lobby

All guests should check-in at the Parents and Families Weekend welcome tables located at the HUB-Robeson Center, first floor lobby upon arrival.

Pre-registered guests - If you registered for Parents and Families Weekend on-line, you may pick up your Parents and Families Weekend Welcome packets at check-in. Packets will include a printed schedule of events booklet, a campus map, and other materials.

Non-registered guests - If you did not register on-line, we ask that you visit the Walk-in Registration Table to check-in upon your arrival to campus. There is no fee to register for Parents Weekend. A limited supply of schedule of event booklets, campus maps and other materials will be available to guests until supplies run out. The welcome table hours at the HUB-Robeson Center, First Floor Lobby are as follows:

  • Friday, October 14 | 12:00 pm - 5:30 pm
  • Saturday, October 15 | 8:00 am - 6:00 pm
  • Sunday, October 16 | 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Fill the Pantry: Lion's Pantry

We are teaming up with Lion's Pantry! Please consider donating non-perishable food items. Donations will support Penn State students in need. Visit Lion's Pantry for a list of needed items.

Parking, Shuttle and Bus Information

Friday, October 14
Hourly parking is available at East Parking Deck, or the Nittany Parking Deck for $1.00 per hour from 7:30 a.m. to midnight. Guests also have the option of purchasing one-day parking permits for $8.00. The daily permits are available at the Penn State/Centre County Visitor Center, any information kiosk, or the Parking Office (located at Eisenhower Parking Deck). The one-day parking pass can be used at East Parking Deck, Eisenhower Parking Deck, Lot Red A (near the IST Building along North Atherton Street) and Orange Lot. Hourly parking is not available at Eisenhower Parking Deck.

Saturday, October 15 and Sunday, October 16

On-campus parking is free on Saturday, October 15 and Sunday, October 16. Guests are encouraged to park at East Parking Deck, Eisenhower Parking Deck, Nittany Parking Deck, or Lot Red A (near the IST Building along North Atherton Street) at no charge.

Please Note: Parking in the resident student parking lots is strictly prohibited. These lots are reserved seven days a week, 24 hours a day for the exclusive use by students displaying the appropriate permit.

Vehicles cannot be parked in reserved or handicapped spaces unless state issued ADA license plate or placard is present.

Please note that there may be regulated parking and a parking fee near the Bryce Jordan Center and Pegula Ice Arena due to events in these locations.

RV Parking
Overnight RV parking on campus is not permitted. However, guests may park their RV on campus throughout the day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. RV parking on Friday will only be permitted in Lot Porter North. Guests must pay the appropriate RV parking fee using the RV rate in the pay station located in Lot Porter North. On Saturday and Sunday guests bringing an RV are encouraged to park in Lot Porter North at Medlar Field or Lot Red A (near the IST Building). Parents and Families Weekend Guest Shuttle Information for Saturday, October 15
On Saturday, October 15, a courtesy shuttle will run from East Parking Deck to the HUB-Robeson Center approximately every 20-30 minutes beginning at 8:15 a.m. until approximately 9:30 a.m. The blue trolley will pick up guests at the designated shuttle stop along Bigler Road (across from the Food Sciences Building). Volunteers will be stationed at the shuttle stop to assist you while the shuttle is in service.

After this time, guests are encouraged to use the CATA Bus service.

CATA Bus Information
Throughout the weekend, guests are encouraged to use the CATA Bus Service to get around campus. Detailed information can be found on the CATA website, under the Campus Service sectiont. There is no fee for CATA Bus service on campus.

Penn State Golf Courses - Parents & Families Weekend Special Rate

  • Blue and White Courses I 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • $35 for Blue Course/$28 for White Course. Fee includes 18 holes with cart. Reservations can be made by calling (814) 863-0257. Be sure to mention the Parents Weekend Special.

Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Penn State National

  • Blue and White Golf Courses I 10:30 a.m.

  • This meet will include more than 15 teams. The start line/finish line are near the rugby field. Spectators are encouraged to park at the IST Parking lot or the Nittany Deck and walk across Atherton to the Blue and White Golf Courses.  Admission is free. No tickets required. For information:

School of Visual Arts Undergraduate Show

  • Visual Arts Building, Edwin W. Zoller Gallery I 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • This exhibition is representative of all SoVA's areas of study: Studio Art, Art Education, and Interdisciplinary Digital Studio. Student led studio tours will also be available 11:30 a.m -1:00 p.m. For information: 814-863-5349 or

Intramural Building Self-Guided Tours

  • 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

  • Take a self-guided tour of the newly renovated facility, which boasts a 48,000 square foot state of the art fitness center, three wood court gyms, a multi-purpose gymnasium, three fitness classrooms, academic classrooms, spinning room, 10 racquetball courts, two full locker rooms, indoor track, and mat room.

Musical Petting Zoo

  • HUB-Robeson Center, Noontime Lounge I 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • What’s a musical petting zoo? It’s a Close Encounter of the Musical Kind where you can explore the rhythms, melodies and harmonies of orchestral instruments under the guidance of demonstratingPenn State musicians. Here’s your chance to get up close and personal with your favorite instruments, to talk to the “zookeepers,” and perhaps meet a new breed of instrument!


Penn State All-Sports Museum Beaver Stadium Tours

  • Beaver Stadium, Meeting at South Tunnel I Tours will begin at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. (tours are approximately 75 minutes).
  • Beaver Stadium tours include the media room, home locker room, tunnel and field, as well as recruiting and club areas. Tickets: $15 adults, $10 students/seniors/Friends of the Penn State All-Sports Museum,  free for children under 3. Tickets are available now for Friends of the Penn State All-Sports Museum. Tickets for the general public will be available starting Monday, September 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. and can be ordered by calling 1-800-NITTANY between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets must be purchased ahead of time. Walk-ups will not be accepted on the day of tours. There will be no refunds. Patrons are encouraged to call within a day or two of the tickets opening to the public as they have historically sold out within in a few days.
